As I am constantly contacted by people looking to get a start in the world of voice over I have decided to create this page to hopefully point those interested in the wonderful industry in the right direction. Please keep in mind that I am no expert and don't have the magic ingredients to a successful career, but I am happy to share the lessons I have learned so far, oh and the mistakes I have made.

Firstly I should mention that I have created an Audio & eBook a guide for people who have that desire to work in voice over but really have no idea where to start. By no means will this book start making you huge amounts of cash straight away or neither should this book be the only book you read. It is purely a guide and introduction to the industry with information on everything from the different types of voice work available... to purchasing a microphone and setting up a home studio.

The information I present in this book is a collection of lessons and wisdoms I have learned from experience and from talking to, training with and studying some of the best voice professional in the world, most of whom are only to happy to offer advice and encouragement to those wanting to genuinely develop their skills and succeed in this industry.

If you ever meet a professional voice over artist or voice actor who works full time in this industry you will most likely find one of those rare people who just loves their job and why not, it’s a fun industry with new challenges daily and it can be quite financially rewarding. I will refer to other voice talents in this book, some of whom I know personally others are authors of books I have read that have helped me and then there is the voice people who are at the pinnacle of this industry, those who we all aspire to be.

Some of the topics covered:

Introduction to Voice Over

The different types of voice over work

Ok, here's some essential info & links:

Now I have purchased many books over the years but I think an absolute must for every voice talents bookshelf regardless of experience is James L Alburger's "The Art Of Voice Acting" it's available through his website click here

Another useful book is Penny Abshire's Demo & Marketing Magic also available through the voice acting website click here

Harlan Hogan also has a couple of books & a dvd available. They are worth considering if you are on a spending spree. Available at his website click here

Have you put together a demo??... if the answer is yes and you would like to get some critique from industry professionals then I suggest heading to the Voice Over Savvy Forums. These are an excellent resource for voice talents of all levels, but be warned, if your demo is not up to scratch you will be advised as such click here

what clients have said;

In the now over crowded world of voice overs where every person who can even squeak out a line of script wants be a “voice over talent” Justin Coombes-Pearce has a unique sound and is not simply an opportunist wanting to jump on the band wagon of what many think is easy money.

Justin takes his voice work seriously and dedicates the time to develop his talent and most importantly can take direction. So take the time to listen to this man’s work. -  Ken Sparkes
